Sylvia graduated as Valedictorian from Litchfield Academy. She went on to work as a secretary at Gardiner Shoe before dedicating more than 30 years of service to the State of Maine Department of Labor.

She loved music, particularly Elvis, Hank Williams, John Denver, and attending Gospel concerts. She was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox's.
An accomplished quilter, Sylvia generously shared her knowledge and beautiful handmade creations with family and friends. She was also known for her sweet tooth and her love of good food.
Sylvia remained active in her community through the Manchester and Richmond Seniors groups, AARP, Oldies but Goodies, her Quilting Circle, and Community Beacon, where she volunteered by offering rides to those in need. She was a faithful and active member of Winter Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving children: John W. Greenleaf, Jr. and Nancy (Peacock) Greenleaf; Diane L. Frederickson; and Randall T. Greenleaf and Marie E. Turgeon. Ware, Griffin L. Ware, Lillian J. Matos, Celena L. Matos, and Nathaniel J. Stevens. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty J. Mason and Barbara A. Hickey, along with many additional family members and dear friends.
