Joseph F. Moeller, 89, of Bowdoinham passed away on April 2, 2026 after a brief illness.
Joe was born in Hyannis, Massachusetts on August 24, 1936 to Fred and Mary (Doane) Moeller. He grew up in Richmond, Maine learning the trade of heavy equipment mechanic from his father.
On January 8, 1955 he married Evelyn L. Boudin. They settled in Bowdoinham in 1970 and raised five children. Joe worked as a mechanic and a welder for Local 4 (Operating Engineers) for most of his work career. He loved his work and the people he worked with. His job took him to many locations, predominately in Maine.
After retiring, he continued his mechanical craft by restoring antique cars. He was meticulous at this and would redo things multiple times to get them up to his standards. This was always done with patience and a smile.
Joe enjoyed working on cars and hunting on his property. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends...and he would easily strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He liked to laugh and to make people laugh. He looked forward to watching NASCAR each week. He would always end a visit by saying "let me know if you need anything"
Joseph was predeceased by his son David Moeller, Grandsons Jason Douglass and Joey Coldsnow and Daughter-in-law Sonia Frizzle Moeller; his parents; brothers Fred and Dennis Moeller, and sister Lonnie Huntington.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Moeller; daughter Mary Coldsnow of Florida; son Joseph Moeller of Moscow, Me.; daughter Debra Douglass (Rodney) of Bowdoinham and daughter Cathy Karonis (Peter) of Topsham; his sisters Janet Trott and Georgia Sullivan, both of Richmond; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends. At his request, there will be no services.
Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Dresden at a later date.
